How long is the CDL training program?+

TIA’s Class A training program is designed to take 4–6 weeks. It includes permit preparation when needed, classroom learning, yard practice, and real driving experience using full-sized trucks. Individual schedules and progress can vary.

How much does the program cost?+

The current TIA site lists $4,600 for students with a CDL permit and $6,000 without a permit, including permit preparation. Pricing and course costs can change, so contact TIA to confirm current tuition and what is included. MET and TWC workforce support may be available to eligible students after program approval.

What do I need to get started?+

Contact TIA to discuss your valid driver’s license, age, eligibility, and CDL goal. TIA can help you understand permit preparation and the applicable theory course. Requirements can depend on your licensing path and current rules.

Do I have to finish online theory before BTW training?+

Federal FMCSA guidance does not require a universal sequence for theory and behind-the-wheel portions. TIA’s student pathway is to complete permit preparation and applicable online theory before beginning TIA’s BTW training. Confirm the requirements for your specific course and licensing path.

Which online theory courses are available?+

CDL Compliance Now lists online theory courses for Class A, Class B, Class B-to-A upgrades, and applicable H, P, and S endorsements, as well as English/traffic-sign study and Texas work-zone safety theory. Course availability and applicability should be confirmed at the provider’s site.

When is theory completion reported to FMCSA?+

CDL Compliance Now says that after a student meets the applicable course requirements and proficiency standard, it issues completion evidence and submits the TPR record within 2 business days. This is the online theory provider’s reporting timeline, not a guarantee of license or test outcome.

Is English proficiency required for CDL drivers?+

FMCSA regulations include English-language proficiency requirements for commercial motor vehicle drivers. English and traffic-sign study is available as preparation, but completing a course does not replace the applicable qualification requirements or official evaluation.

What is the SB 1366 training update?+

TDLR says SB 1366 requires driver-education and driving-safety courses completed on or after September 1, 2026 to include information about construction or maintenance work zones. TDLR identifies specific course/provider categories; ask TDLR whether the provision applies to your particular CDL-school course. Online supplemental work-zone theory is available through CDL Compliance Now.

Is CDL training offered in any language other than English?+

No. All CDL training and student instruction at TIA are conducted in English only. Students must meet applicable English-language proficiency requirements for their CDL path.

What financial assistance is available?+

TIA works with MET and TWC/Workforce Solutions partners. Eligibility, application steps, and any award or tuition coverage are decided by the relevant program.

How do I enroll?+

Contact TIA at (806) 292-6868 or info@traintia.com. The team can talk through your training goal, course path, schedules, permit status, and next steps.
